Born in Liverpool in 1918, Bruce Roberts would establish himself as a talented painter and graphic artist. Much of his career was spent designing posters for a theatre, music halls, travel companies and Britain’s Royal Mail. He studied art at the Liverpool School of art from 1936-1938 before moving on to London to complete his training. Firstly, at the St. Martin’s School of Art before finally the Chelsea Polytechnic. He would remain in London for the remainder of is life earning a considerable living for his design work. This early work, executed while still a student, gives us a taste of his future potential and the reason he found himself in such high demand.
